What should you know about Metro Continuing Education?

Curriculum

Any course offered by metro continuing education follows the same course content as the equivalent in-school EPSB classes do. The only difference should be the time the class is taken, and standard teaching variations.

Courses & Structure

Offers weekend, evening, and summer courses. They are the same ones offered by the Alberta school curriculum. The classes offered in this program are usually taken to upgrade marks by retaking a class or to take a class outside of standard school times because of scheduling conflicts during the school year. It can also be used to complete a High School Diploma. The classes offered through Metro are: English, Social, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Science, and Math, all at the 20 and 30 level where applicable, and some at the 10 level where applicable.
Work experience and the RAP program can also be taken through Metro Continuing Education (see their website and our page on RAP)

No special prerequisite courses, but for each course taken a student must meet the Alberta prerequisite course requirements.
Courses are split into age groups; those under 20 years of age and those over 20 as of September 1st on the year the course is taken. There are different requirements for these two age groups, so make sure to read carefully.
Requires access to a stable internet and a device which has a camera and microphone from which to do online courses, otherwise, in-person classes are available. A school can usually set up students with devices if needed.
60$ program fee for everyone who signed up for Metro. For anyone under 20 as of September 1st, the tuition is free. For everyone over 20 as of September 1st, a 5-credit course is 589$ in tuition (in addition to the 60$ program fee)
For students under 20, they must currently be attending an EPSB school, OR must be going into an EPSB school (for summer school classes), OR their last attended school must be EPSB (for evening and weekend classes)
